Our Ministries

We Serve in many areas and in many ways.  The following is an alphabetical listing of some of the many ways our pastors are involved.  Some are simply necessary to keep the doors open and others are to directly accomplish our Lord's objectives.  As you look through this list, think of where you might want to serve and how you might become part of the laity team..
  1. Administration: Preparation, planning and attending church meetings.  Correspondence, reports, finances and building issues.  Staff supervision and other administration matters.
  2. Availability: Being present in regular office hours, presenting an attitude of willingness to listen and be present for peoples needs.
  3. Beyond the local church: Planning and involvement on District and Conference Committees, Boards and Task Groups.  Serving on community, ecumenical and interfaith associations.  Participating with conference camps, annual conferences, etc.
  4. Counseling: Private, personal, confidential counseling with individuals, couples, families or groups in need.
  5. Evangelism: Demonstrating an importance of evangelism as central to our faith.  Creating ministries of evangelism.
  6. Leadership: Demonstrates leadership in training within church community.  Understands and expresses, responsibly, authority of cleric office and understands and respects authority of laity.
  7. Ministry in Church Community: Involved in planning and participation in youth, missions, education, families and Bible Study areas of ministry.
  8. Personal Study and Spiritual Formation: Takes individual or group study, prayer and meditation, time apart, continuing education and personal renewal to expand personal faith.
  9. Sabbath and Rest:  Regular weekly time off for personal rest, relaxation and Sabbath.
  10. Teaching: Preparing for and teaching to various age groups.  Perhaps Bible Study, church membership, confirmation, study groups, etc.
  11. Team Building: Works with and builds teamwork within staff.  Recruits and equips effective leaders and teams within laity.
  12. Vision Building: Creates, interprets and casts vision for church in future.  Equips church for ministry, evangelism and growth.
  13. Visitation: Visit hospitalized, shut-ins, new members and general visitation of church members.
  14. Worship: Sermon preparation, planning, developing, coordinating and participating in weekly and seasonal services. Lead celebration of sacraments. Handle special need services such as funerals, weddings, healing services, etc.
